Material Handler/Forklift Operator
Job Description
Our client, a leader in the food manufacturing industry, is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to support operations across two production facilities.
This role is essential to maintaining a steady flow of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods throughout the warehouse, production, freezer, and cooler areas. Candidates must be comfortable operating a sit-down or stand-up forklift, powered pallet jack, and manual pallet jack, and accurately tracking all material movements using RF scanners or issue/return tags.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work directly with production line personnel to ensure timely material delivery
- Transport raw materials, packaging, supplies, and finished goods between the warehouse, production, freezer, and cooler areas
- Accurately document all material movement using issue/return tags or RF scanning equipment
- Complete all required paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail
- Notify supervisors of shortages in raw materials, packaging, or finished goods
- Remove line waste and maintain a clean working area
- Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work environment
- Approach work with enthusiasm, urgency, and a team-oriented attitude
- Wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management
Physical Environment & Working Conditions:
- Regularly required to sit, walk, use hands and arms for handling and reaching
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs; occasional team lifting up to 110 lbs
- Exposure to cold storage areas (freezer/cooler), wet and/or humid conditions, and moving mechanical equipment
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and elevated workspaces
- Moderate noise level typical of a food production/warehouse setting
Qualifications:
- Prior experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks in a warehouse or production setting
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Willingness to work in cold, wet, or physically demanding environments
