Job Description
A leading manufacturer in the heating industry and plastic extrusion sector is seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance Mechanic to join their team.
Starting Hourly Rate: $24.00-$32.00
Schedule: 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday - Friday
- (Summer hours: 6:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Thursday and Fridays 6:30 am to 12:30 pm)
Position Summary:
The Facility Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on production equipment and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic knowledge, as well as the ability to work independently and identify safety or operational issues before they become problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of duties related to the repair and upkeep of machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Respond to work orders and perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Detect and address equipment malfunctions or irregularities.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery as needed.
- Repair or replace pneumatic/hydraulic valves and perform basic machining tasks.
- Read and follow equipment manuals and SOPs to ensure effective repairs and upkeep.
- Install new machinery and contribute to improvement projects.
- Maintain water, steam, air, and plumbing systems; perform carpentry as needed.
- Thread pipe and bend conduit for installations or repairs.
- Operate forklifts or powered trucks (training available if needed).
- Maintain compliance with all safety protocols and cleanliness standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical school certification preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills.
- Working knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Forklift/powered industrial truck experience is a plus.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, and bending.
- Must be able to use hands, arms, and fingers effectively.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision and depth perception.
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in varying physical positions.
