Job Description
Local packaging manufacturer is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join their team in New Haven, CT.
This is a temp to hire, long term career opportunity that will allow paid training/career advancement once hired directly.
Job Duties:
- Troubleshooting / maintaining / repairing electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic machine, electric motors, conveyors, etc.
- May be assigned responsibilities in areas of plumbing, pipefitting, metalworking, carpentry, mechanics, and electricity.
- Controlling downtime by performing routine preventive maintenance techniques and working closely with operators on keeping machines running at peak operation while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Maintaining continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels.
- Work closely with other maintenance mechanics to anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work.
- Perform root cause failure analysis to eliminate repeat occurrences on maintenance issues.
- Troubleshoot using PLC and ladder logic.
Skills & Requirements:
- 5 - 8 years of experience with industrial maintenance, preferably with packaging equipment
- Proficient in electronics, motor repair, VFD, PLC’s, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical.
- Ability to troubleshoot from reading hydraulic and pneumatic prints.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug test.
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stoop, bend, climb ladders, and operate aerial lifts.
- Must have rigging experience.
- Ability to readily initiate equipment improvements and work with various teams within the plant in the identification and resolution of manufacturing problems.
- Willingness to participate in sponsored training programs, self –study and apprenticeship, to supplement on-the-job experience toward the development of required skills.
- Must provide own tools.
