Licensed Bobcat Operator/Bailer

The Licensed Bobcat Operator/Bailer is responsible for operating Bobcat skid-steer loaders and other heavy equipment within a recycling facility to move materials and assist in the baling process. The position requires the operator to have a valid Bobcat operator license and experience with heavy machinery, as well as a strong understanding of safety and operational best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Bobcat Operation:

• Operate Bobcat skid-steer loaders and other material handling equipment to transport, load, and unload materials such as cardboard, plastic, metal, and other recyclables.
• Maneuver the Bobcat with precision in tight spaces to move materials around the facility and load them onto conveyors or other containers for processing.
• Use the Bobcat to assist with the sorting process, picking up materials for baling, crushing, or shredding.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings while operating equipment to ensure the safety of other workers and prevent damage to equipment.

Baling Operations:

• Operate baling equipment (e.g., hydraulic balers) to compact and bind recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastic, and aluminum into bales.
• Ensure that bales are properly packed, tied, and labeled according to facility specifications and industry standards.
• Coordinate with other team members to ensure bales are stored in the appropriate areas for later shipment or processing.
• Maintain bale production targets and adjust operations as necessary to meet facility goals.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Valid Bobcat operator’s license or certification
• Experience operating Bobcat skid-steer loaders or similar heavy equipment, preferably in a recycling environment.
• Experience with baling equipment is highly preferred.
